A Fisherman's Dream & A Nature
Lover's Paradise...
Come
share our "hammock" (from the Native Indian culture,
meaning "a shady place") as you discover the natural
beauty of Old Florida. A place where time seems to stand still.
Renowned as the "Bass Fishing Capital Of The World",
the one that got away still swims our waters, challenging the
sport fisherman. For the novice angler, the waters are teeming
with Gar, Bass, Specks, Shellcracker Mullet, Bluegill, Croaker,
Catfish etc., so no one need be disappointed.
Swim, dive or canoe at Blue
Springs State Park. Bathe in the crystal clear spring water,
which maintains a year round 72° temperature. Observe the
dozens of Manatees who make these warm springs their winter haven.
The
Manatee, River Otter, Alligator, Turtle, Fox, Bald Eagle, Hawk,
Osprey and Owl, represent just a few species of our abundant wildlife.
Behold the beauty of the ancient Cypress Tree, the rigid stature
of the Loblolly Pine and Sable Palm, the majesty of the Live Oak
mystically draped in Spanish Moss and the picturesque Southern
Magnolia with its fragrant and exquisite blossoms. Delight in
the miles of lush unspoiled wilderness.
Rent
a pontoon, houseboat
or fishing boat and cruise the graceful
St. John’s River, now designated a Heritage River. Cut through
Big Lake George, to join the flotilla which is always gathered
for parties at Silver Glen Springs. Or take a kayak or canoe trip
on the pristine Oklawaha River, winding through Ocala National
Forest.
In downtown
DeLand you will find friendly, small town hospitality combined
with restaurants, festivals, theater and countless special events.
The captivating downtown has quaint little shops displaying antiques,
local arts & crafts, unique sidewalk cafes and wonderful streetscaping,
architecture and ambiance. If you prefer big time convenience,
Sears, Lowes and Wal-mart are here, too.
If
all the tranquility, nature and fresh air become too leisurely
for you, there is no shortage of action packed adventures within
a short drive. The races at Daytona, Bike Week, the theme parks
of Orlando, bicycle and hiking trails in the National Preserve,
Kennedy Space Center, historic St. Augustine, breathtaking beaches,
water parks, fabulous golf, casino cruises, deep sea fishing,
sky diving, parasailing, great restaurants and much more is readily
available.
When all your sightseeing is done, come home to our quiet hammock
for a relaxing bask in thesun and a refreshing swim in the pool.
Lounge under your covered veranda, while listening to the crickets
and occasional cry of the loon. Laze on a hammock. Water ski or
jet ski on the lake. Toast marshmallows at the campfire. Have
the squirrels eat peanuts right out of your hand. Or just sit
on the docks and relish the splendid sunset over Lake Beresford.
Perhaps drop a line from our dock, who knows, that elusive Largemouth
Bass, just might be a trophy mounted on your wall.
We are pet friendly, but pets must be on a leash.
